Hello and welcome to my Tumblr blog! My name is Chelsea, otherwise known as runtheline. Run the Line is designed to illustrate my version of balance and healthy living in a world of stress and bad habits! Join me on my quest to live a full and healthy life while following my dreams.
Here’s a little about me. I have an undergraduate degree in political science, and I am currently a law student at a top 20 law school. How does this qualify me to be a healthy living advisor? It doesn’t. This Tumblr blog aims to show how an average woman tries to live a healthy and full life without having a career in the field of nutrition, fitness, or health care.
In junior high and high school, I struggled a little with my weight. I didn’t know how to eat well, and mostly, I ate a lot of processed foods. Sure, we had family dinners, but I didn’t limit myself in portion sizes. I stayed within my normal weight, but I had very little muscle.
In college, I surprisingly did not gain the Freshman 15. In fact, I lost weight in college. By the time I graduated, I lost 10 pounds from when I first enrolled in college. After losing 10 pounds, I was at a healthy weight, although I still could have been more fit. Some would say I was lucky. But fast forward to law school…
In law school, I gained over 10 pounds in my first year. Law school is a stressful beast, and all the drinking my peers did on the weekends did not help at all. After the first year, I constantly thought of dropping out (which is apparently common in law school). I was not happy. And in January 2010, before the start of my second semester of law school, I decided to take back control of my life. I took up running (something I hated before), and started to make healthier choices in my meals and in my life.
I am now training for my first half-marathon. Some would call this overly ambitious, especially because I’ve never run a race in my life and I’ve only been running for a few months (since January 2010!). My answer? It was on my bucket list, and as I like to think, there is no time like the present.
As a law student, I do not get to write as long or as often as I’d like. I do apologize to my followers and readers because of this. But know that it is YOU, reader, that keeps me going. Without your support and my desire for accountability, I would have stopped this quest a long time ago!
