So because you have flat feet, will you have to get new/different/special running shoes? I’ve been thinking this could be one of my problems (either flat feet or too high of an arch).
Dr. Dave, the doctor I saw today, took a look at my running shoes when he was diagnosing me, but did not make any remarks on them (aka he didn’t tell me whether I should buy new shoes). I have a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 6 running shoes, which are, according to Runner’s World, good for people with normal to low arches. But I go back in for rehab on Thursday, so I will ask for sure.
If you are thinking about getting new running shoes, I would definitely suggest reading more about the basics of running shoes. There are a lot of good articles on it here, explaining how to tell what kind of arch you have, how to tell if you are a under/over pronator, etc. Also, there are a lot of running stores that have you run on a treadmill to determine what kind of shoe you should wear. I would suggest visiting one of those stores and seeing what they say.
Hope this helps!
