The Quick Life Update!!

Running Update

  • Ever since the half-marathon, my legs have just felt sore and weak.  The boyfriend and I tried to do a 6 miler about 1.5 weeks ago and we only were able to run 2 of the miles straight (of course the first two).
  • After this run, I developed wicked shin splints.  Never mind that I already had shin splints in one of the shin splint muscles on each leg; the running gods apparently decided that I needed shin splints in BOTH PAIRS of the shin muscles on each leg.  Ugh.
  • Last Saturday, I realized that I have a 5K this Saturday and that I had better get my butt in gear!
  • Did a trial run of 2.5 miles on Monday on the treadmill.  Happy to report no significant pains.
  • Ran 4 miles outside today in 80 degree weather after work.  I tried to run the first 5K as fast as I could (pausing the timer for stoplights) and ended up finishing in 29:59.  That will be the time to beat on Saturday!!  Ended up running very slowly for the last .9 of a mile.

Sports Rehab Update

  • So yeah, wasn’t doing too good with my exercises.  Which is probably why my legs were hurting me so much in the weeks after the half.  I’ve got my butt in gear now though!

Work Update

  • Started my job last Monday.  I’m working as a certified student attorney for a city attorney’s office in Minnesota.  Basically this means that I am prosecuting low level criminal offenses (at least at first).  Eventually, I want to be able to handle everything from parking tickets to domestic assaults.
  • I do not do well with a 8-5 work schedule. 
  • I need to learn time management!

Other Random Stuff

  • My baby sister graduated from high school!!  Unfortunately, this meant that I attended her grad party which included copious amounts of sweets and booze.
  • Surprisingly, my grades are GOOD from last semester.
  • I noticed that if I am not working out almost every day, my cravings for sweets and junk food go WAY WAY up.
  • I may be addicted to the Sookie Stackhouse novels.  I’ve only read the first one, but I devoured it like candy :)

Whew, that was a long “Quick Life Update.”  Guess I’d been away from Tumblr way too long, eh?  How are all of you Tumblrs doing?  Feel free to leave a comment catching me up on your life!
